CHIRAKU – SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS CEREMONY

The Alumni Association of Government College, Chittur (AAGCC) hosted its annual awards ceremony on March 14, 2025, at the college campus. The event celebrated the achievements of GCC students, with 38 students receiving the Chiraku Awards and 24 students honored with the Excellence Awards.
The program began at 3:00 PM with a warm Welcome Address by Mr. Mulanjur Venugopal, setting the tone for the event. At 4:00 PM, Prof. K. Jayadevan, President of the Alumni Association, delivered the Presidential Address. He highlighted the importance of recognizing and nurturing young talent, emphasizing the role of education and mentorship in shaping future leaders.
The Principal of GCC, Dr. Reji T, extended a heartfelt felicitation to the awardees. He applauded their dedication and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence, underscoring the college’s mission to foster holistic development.
The highlight of the event was the address by Chief Guest Sri. T. Nandakumar, IAS (Retd.), a distinguished alumnus of GCC. Drawing from his illustrious career, he inspired students to dream big, work diligently, and uphold integrity. His speech was a powerful reminder of the impact of perseverance and the importance of giving back to society.
The awards distribution began at 5:00 PM, starting with the Chiraku Scholarship Awards for 3rd-year students, followed by 2nd-year students and 1st-year students. CHIRAKU, which stands for “Caring, Compassionate, Considerate,” is the Alumni Association’s signature charity program. It provides financial assistance to eligible students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, supporting them throughout their three-year college journey. Following this, the Excellence Awards were distributed to 24 students, recognizing their exceptional performance in academics, extracurricular activities, and leadership. These awards celebrated not just academic brilliance but also the holistic development of students.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. V.P. Venugopal, Joint Secretary of the Alumni Association, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers. The ceremony ended on a patriotic note with the National Anthem, leaving everyone inspired and proud.
